Overview

We are a student-run organization and our work is 100% funded by donations and ran by volunteers. Our goal is to bridge the gap between homeless and underserved populations, and primary healthcare. CMU Street Medicine strives to identify patient needs and provide relevant healthcare referrals to establish long term care and prevent serious health complications. We also aid with connecting patients with social services, including helping uninsured patients acquire insurance and/or find affordable clinics they can access. We aim to overcome barriers to healthcare by providing regular and direct outreach and engagement with homeless/rough sleeping people where they live, building relationships and trust, and offering empathy, companionship, and respect.
