The city’s proximity to Toronto, Canada’s most important economic hub, has led Oshawa to achieve some of the highest population growth in Canada, bringing with it an influx of new talent. Oshawa is home to three highly acclaimed post-secondary institutions – Durham College, Trent University Durham GTA and Ontario Tech University. In June 2016, the province announced the extension of GO Train service from Oshawa to Bowmanville, which will include four new stations. Oshawa is well served by four Hwy 401 interchanges, the new extension of Hwy 407 to Oshawa and Hwys 412 and 418 that links the 401 and 407.
