Like taverns of previous centuries, the City Tavern Preservation Foundation opens the doors of the last remaining Federal-era tavern in the District of Columbia to the community for educational and civic engagement. The Foundation features lectures, guided tours, and cultural programs that highlight the City Tavern and Georgetown history, its famous patrons, its historical relationship with slavery and the broader community, and its 18th-century architecture and interiors, among numerous other subjects of general interest.
