City Pay it Forward

Overview

We are a grassroots organization made up of volunteers, seeking to make a positive impact on our communities. We are finance professionals and educators that have come together to collaborate with schools to teach children the basics in financial literacy including savings, budgeting, borrowing and investing. City Pay it Forward is not affiliated with any bank and we personally fund our work. We are passionate about making a difference in the community and we are in a unique position to provide our curriculum to free of charge. In the UK, our primary school materials revolve around our Year 6 Financial Literacy curriculum, which was be delivered to every primary school (all 21,000). Our financial literacy materials for secondary schools focus on enterprise and investing and include investment competitions, with work experience for the winning teams. In the US, we developed an innovative fifth grade financial literacy program, in partnership with early year specialists at the University of Miami’s School of Education, and rolled it out to every fifth-grade student (almost 30,000) in the Miami-Dade County public school district (4th largest district in the US). The program was delivered to the school district entirely free of charge.
