Overview
The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA (SPCA) is a nonprofit animal welfare organization founded in 1914 whose mission is to advance the compassionate treatment of animals by providing sheltering, medical care and behavioral services for dogs and cats; promoting permanent, caring homes; and furthering education and outreach. We focus our efforts on live-saving initiatives such as affordable spay/neuter, pet retention programs, affordable wellness and veterinary care clinics, microchip and rabies clinics, and free community cat Trap-Neuter-Return. In addition to operating as an open admission no-kill facility, the SPCA also provides contractual pound services to the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County.
