Chapter Mental Health

Overview

Chapter is dedicated to improving the lives of people who are experiencing severe and enduring mental illness. We pride ourselves on the tailored local approach of our service. We work closely with individuals, taking time to understand their needs and recognising their skills, and then linking them into local support that helps them back into community life. Chapter was set up in 1991 as a result of an initiative led by mental health workers and service-users, and is now a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. It was originally envisaged that we would work with 12 people a year, but Chapter has developed both in the scope of its work and the number of its service users, and we now are in contact with about 130 people every year. Chapter assists people who, because of their mental their mental illness, need help in regaining confidence, accessing training and employment experience, and moving towards fulfilling their life goals. We work across the city of Chester, the towns of Ellesmere Port and Neston and the wider Cheshire West area.
