Overview

ChangeMakers is a Syrian Youth-led initiative aiming to provide young people with coding skills and develop their abilities to communicate effectively. ChangeMakers was launched in October 2016 from the heart of Damascus (capital of Syria). In a short span of time, the initiative has succeeded in empowering almost 50 young ChangeMakers. ChangeMakers states the mission of breaking the stereotype of the programming profession as a male-dominated one in the Syrian society. It envisions creating a radical change by encouraging females to get into the programming world. ChangeMakers seeks to bridge the gap in school education by creating especially-designed curriculums and pursuing interactive teaching methods used by a number of experts who are distinctively passionate about programming. We have achieved a lot over the past year. With an ambitious vision, we are working on developing innovation hubs and training programs by following the latest studies and trends. The ChangeMakers’s team keeps an eye on other successful experiences and lessons learned worldwide to develop its programs. Vision: Building the largest community of young Syrian and innovative programmers, both females and males equally. Mission: ChangeMakers aims to reduce the gender gap in the tech field in Syria, encouraging females to become programmers and empowering young people to grow up as world-shapers.
