The company was founded in 1977 by John Dalton IV, who hauled recycled newspapers in an old rental truck late at night in the mid-1970s after his day job before dedicating himself full time to the recycling industry. CERTIFIED now operates 2 recycling facilities in the Southern California region and processes over 200,000,000 pounds of recyclable material annually. CERTIFIED is today majority-owned by the private equity firm Parallel49 Equity in partnership with the Company’s founding shareholders.
