CARAD - Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees, and Detainees

Civic and Social Organizations

Overview

The Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Detainees (CARAD) is an organisation that represents a community of people who support the rights of asylum seekers, refugees and detainees in Western Australia. CARAD is innovative, flexible and dynamic in the ways in which it empowers people seeking asylum to connect with their community, live with dignity and advocate for their rights. CARAD is a not-for-profit organisation and is independently funded, which is critical for ensuring that the organisation does not accept funding which would impact on its ability to advocate for the rights of people seeking safety in Australia. Our organisation has a small infrastructure with 3.8 FTE staff members, however, our community of support included over 200 active volunteers, 300 members and more than a thousand subscribers, who amplify our impact exponentially.
