Overview

CASH (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) Oregon is a program of Metropolitan Family Service committed to improving the financial health of low income working families and individuals. CASH Oregon provides low income families and individuals from every community and background in Oregon with the tools and resources to begin building solid financial futures. In partnership with AARP Tax-Aide CASH Oregon supports aggressive Earned Income Tax Credit outreach and free tax preparation programs. In addition, through our strategic partnerships with financial service organizations around the State, including Innovative Change$, we facilitate easy access to financial education and services. Who We Serve We serve people from different ethnic groups, living situations, ability levels, and age groups. During the 2014 tax season, these IRS-certified volunteer tax preparer, filed the taxes of 54,273 families and individuals statewide who received $58,027.998 in total refunds. Still we could not serve all the Oregonians who needed our services. Many taxpayers do not have access to the internet at home. For those who have access to the internet, many are not aware of the ever changing tax laws and/or credits. Because of this, people turn to commercial tax preparers that charge $150 or more. By taking advantage of our free tax preparation services, taxpayers maximized their refunds by eliminating the fees charged by commercial tax preparation companies statewide saving filers more than $8,140,950! In addition, these filers avoided the temptation of high-interest Refund Anticipation Loans. Won't you help us meet this need by volunteering your time in the community? Please visit www.CASHOregon.org to see our position posting and for more information on volunteering as a tax preparer.
