Overview

Care to Dance is a social enterprise, led by Qualified Social Workers, that is driven by a desire to ensure that every young person in care has the opportunity to enjoy the benefits that come from being involved in dance. Our mission is to pioneer new ways of using dance to improve the wellbeing of young people in care. Children and young people have a place to go on a weekly basis that provides a space to safely express themselves in an understanding and caring environment that is focused on developing confidence through dance. The young people continue to build their confidence and relationships with one another through meaningful interaction and expressive dance. Our dance mentor is a qualified social worker (Social Work England Registered) and combines both the professional and emotional attributes of social work practice to provide a safe and meaningful environment for children who would like to learn how to dance. We continue to provide the young people with opportunities to become an Ambassador, supporting them with their leadership skills. Alongside the role of the Ambassador, we support young people to access Level 1 and Level 2 Dance Leadership qualifications. In addition to the dance classes, we offer opportunities for young people to come together and socialise when safe to do so. This offers them the opportunity to further develop their friendships and create positive memories for their life story.
