Overview

A Cardiff University Flagship Research Institute, harnessing research power to transform the way we manage water resources, to meet the needs of both people and ecosystems, for current and future generations. We have over 60 affiliated academics from 9 schools, ranging from Engineering to Social science. We bring these researchers together to work in an interdisciplinary manner to address the challenges of water security. Current major research themes include: Water in Africa - Our group works with local partners in Africa to research water challenges affecting people and ecosystems and the trade-offs necessary to solve these. Plastics from source to sink - Our research group explores interdisciplinary research ideas around the current hot topic of plastics in the environment. Water, health and well being - Our group discusses and researches ways to provide a healthy water supply to communities through resilient freshwater resources, locally and globally. If you would like to find out more about any of our research, please don't hesitate to contact us.
