Overview
Capital Workforce Partners (CWP) is the North Central CT regional Workforce Development Board. CWP is responsible for coordinating a regional workforce system that meets the changing employment and training needs of employers and job seekers. Through our American Job Center locations in Hartford, New Britain, Enfield, and Manchester, the organization drives to close the skills gap between job seekers and employers. CWP is one of five Workforce Development Boards that evolved as part of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998, which was reauthorized in July 2014 as the Workforce Innovation and Investment Act. As a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation Capital Workforce Partners coordinates programs and initiatives to develop a skilled, educated and vital workforce. CWP: • Promotes and invests in youth and future workforce solutions • Identifies and supports development of sustainable career paths for adult workers • Assists employers in targeted industries, helping them grow and remain competitive. CWP serves a population of over 990,000 and a labor force of almost 530,000, making it the largest workforce investment area in Connecticut. CWP serves 37 municipalities in North Central Connecticut. It is led by a consortium of the region's chief elected officials and has representatives from business, education, and labor serving on its Board of Directors.
