Calvin College Chimes

Overview

Chimes is the official student newspaper of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich. Its mission is to serve the community of Calvin College in a variety of ways: we aim to reform, review, challenge and foster dialogue within the community. Founded in 1907, Chimes began as a monthly publication focused more on literary review and writers than on reporting news. In the 1940s, Chimes became a weekly print newspaper. Created by students for students, Chimes provides a venue for the discussion of issues, events and ideas as we work out what we believe the Calvin community should look like and what we can do to make it better. In 2012, Chimes updated its website and began publishing online content multiple times each week while maintaining its weekly Friday print edition.
