California Association for Medical Laboratory Technology (CAMLT)

Non-profit Organizations

Overview

The California Association for Medical Laboratory Technology (CAMLT) is a non-profit statewide professional association for Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Medical Laboratory Technicians and Phlebotomists practicing their profession in California. CAMLT has been in existence for over 77 years and is the only medical laboratory association or group, which has self-funded a lobbyist in Sacramento California, focused on the protecting and enhancing the profession. Fighting to maintain high standards and licensing/certification in the California profession, CAMLT’s ultimate goal is to protect the high earning potential of medical laboratory professionals. This includes but is not limited to; current and future clinical laboratory scientists, medical laboratory technicians and phlebotomists. We believe that proper training standards, combined with continuing education, is needed to maintain the professionalism of our laboratory workforce and we will continue to oppose those who insist on removing the professionalism in health care – and ultimately lower earning potential and job security. Having licensed clinical laboratory professionals is both an important need and a great benefit to California doctors and patients. CAMLT continues to develop and offer continuing education classes for clinical laboratory scientists, medical laboratory technicians and phlebotomists, tailored to the specific needs of the California market, as well as offer member services tailored to the California based and active clinical laboratory scientists, medical laboratory technicians and phlebotomists.
