Overview

The California Community Action Partnership Association (CalCAPA) empowers members through capacity building, representation and outreach. Founded in 1976, CalCAPA serves member Community Action Agencies (CAAs) and other Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funded organizations that deliver human services to economically disadvantaged families and children across California. CalCAPA’s mission is to advance our members’ ability to help economically disadvantaged Californians achieve self-sufficiency by generating quality training and technical assistance, developing and promoting transformative public policies and practices and building awareness and partnerships for a more equitable economy. CalCAPA facilitates relevant and timely network and organizational capacity building opportunities that capitalizes on the latest and best practices in the field of human services. Responsive to the needs of our members, our work includes providing targeted online and in-person training and consulting services in areas such as governance, finance and leadership development. The importance of our members’ work drives our unwavering commitment to provide the constant improvement needed for them to create meaningful and sustainable results. CalCAPA aims to be a powerful catalyst for change through consist advocacy and action around complex poverty issues. With the diminishing funding of human services, advancing the interests of the impoverished communities our members serve is vital. CalCAPA provides a voice through mobilization and alliance-building in order to improve the laws, policies, and systems that impact and change structural inequalities.
