Overview
Founded in 1988, Cahaba River Society seeks to restore and protect the Cahaba River watershed and its rich diversity of life, which includes both the river’s globally-significant freshwater life and the diverse people of central Alabama who rely on the Cahaba for drinking water. CRS’ environmental outreach includes the Shane Hulsey CLEAN Program—which takes students and teachers into the Cahaba for hands-on river education—as well as collaborations with local governments, businesses and residents to encourage more sustainable and water-wise development.
