Overview

My name is Luke. I am 25 years old. In June of 2018 I was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. The cancer is still here – I’m here too. Starting on January 1 2020, I have begun cycling from Bristol to Beijing on a tandem bicycle. The aims of this trip are simple but ambitious: to inspire CanLivers* to proactively seek out opportunities to live richly and fully; to maximise their chances of longevity and happiness through exercise and diet; to create a dynamic, lasting movement in how we approach cancer However, this is a message that applies to anyone facing challenges, anyone living. A key aspect of driving this change is supporting groups who already are working towards similar goals. Therefore the ride initially aims to raise £23,000 – £1 for every kilometre cycled – to be shared equally between 5K Your Way and Trekstock, charities which help empower CanLivers through exercise, alongside the Teenage Cancer Trust and ClicSargent, which both did so much to support me throughout treatment. After this first fundraising milestone is reached, I will announce updated fundraising goals to achieve various goals in support of the CanLive movement, including supporting like-minded organisations I encounter during the expedition. Please donate on my fundraising page and help us reach our initial target of £23,000! Thanks a million to the hundreds of donors who have helped me make amazing progress thus far! To find out more and follow my journey, please visit my website, Facebook, or Instagram, or Weibo pages. *CanLiver = someone living with cancer: facing the uncertainty and challenge of cancer on a daily basis, yet we can live with cancer - richly and fully.
