Overview

Founded by acclaimed Brighton-based restaurateur Razak Helalat, Black Rock Restaurants Group comprises of The Salt Room, the duo of The Coal Shed restaurants, and most recently Burnt Orange. They all focus on dishes expertly cooked over coal using the highest quality, seasonal ingredients. Our obsession with going above and beyond is inspired by the Persian concept of “Nooshe jân”. Used in a similar way to “bon appetit”, it also has a deeper meaning that translates more like “may it nourish your soul”. Because the experience we want to create goes way beyond a nice meal. We talk about our drinks, service, and atmosphere because we know they’re as important to customers as our food. Every detail, from the quality of the ingredients to the lighting, acoustics, and the pacing of the meal, feeds the feeling of well-being our customers leave with.
