Black Orlando Tech

Overview

Black Orlando Tech (BOT), is a nonprofit organization that is committed to accelerating minority economic advancement through workforce, small business, and socioeconomic development by increasing the awareness, activities, network, and resources for local minorities who pursue careers or entrepreneurship in technology. BOT's vision is to train and inspire 10,000 minorities in Central Florida to enter tech by 2025. Our long term strategy is to create a growing social mechanism which contributes to the growth of minorities within tech through grassroots and direct-to-community activities. This includes cultivating partnerships with businesses, academia, professional and government organizations, facilitating safe, solution-orientated dialogue and programming, and developing pipelines for minorities to leverage career and entrepreneurial resources. Our aim to improve the intellectual and skills-centric talent base within the minority community and provide a highly valuable framework to increase output and equity within some of the currently underrepresented and historically distressed communities in Central Florida. Our organization is very active in the community and engages in activities that spark collaboration, creativity, innovation, practicality, feasibility, viability, and accountability. We work closely with other organizations to share resources, build valuable relationships and collaborate on initiatives that focus and impact the community. All of these serve as ingredients to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion. By increasing our local footprint, producing and managing successful programs, we will ensure that we become effective at connecting aspiring minority tech professionals and entrepreneurs with the mechanisms and resources they need to successfully enter into the tech space.
