Overview

BitterNet is the first internet provider in the Ternopil region. Node bit.te.ua founded in 1993. We started to provide network access Relcom / UANet via uucp technology. October 2, 1995 was established first in an area dedicated channel with access to the Internet. In 1996 BitterNet developed and implemented for the Ternopil City Council reception system utilities payments. In 1997, the company BitterNet together with the City Council created the "Network City", which covers a large number of government agencies, organizations, businesses, schools and companies. In 1998 BitterNet employees involved in developing Internet standards in code table KOI8-U - Request For Comment (RFC) 2319. In 2000, started operation of a new digital modem pool with support the protocol v.90. With it, the number of simultaneous connections to the network was expanded to 50, and the speed of access growth from 33.6Kbit/s to 56Kbit/s. Since September 2002 the company BitterNet, one of the first in Ukraine introduced a new type of service - Internet access through cable television networks using technology DOCSIS. It allowed to increase the access speed of 56kBit/s to 27Mbit/s. December 13, 2002 BitterNet first in the Ternopil region received a license to use the radio frequency resource (IEEE 801.11b). In 2005, completed construction of the radio network in Ternopil region (covers all regional centers). In 2003, construction began BitterNet optical backbone network in Ternopil. Today laid 600 kilometers of optical lines. In May 2007 began BitterNet build regional optical networks in Ternopil region. At January 1, 2015 built more than 350km fiber optic backbone. In November 2011 began a new phase - started construction of optical networks in the private sector. Today broadband Internet connection is available in over 250 towns in Ternopil region. Paved more than 2,000km fiber optic, installed more than 1,000 switches, covered nearly 100,000 households.
