Overview

BIPOC TV & Film is a nonprofit movement advocating for and amplifying Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour professionals working and creating content in Canada's film and TV industry. Our purpose is grounded in the principles of inclusion, equity, solidarity and community. From writers, directors, producers and actors to editors, crew members and executives, our members are a mix of emerging, mid-level and established industry professionals. BIPOC TV & Film is dedicated to the economic empowerment, creative sovereignty and career advancement of BIPOC both in front and behind the camera. Through our dynamic programming, we offer many opportunities to our community (at no cost) and our allies within the Canadian screen industry: Education, Mentorship & Training; Panels & Networking Events; Advocacy & Outreach. BIPOC TV & Film was founded in 2012 by Writer/Director Nathalie Younglai, who saw a need to form a community for others like her, who were also feeling isolated by the overall lack of diverse representation in the industry. In 2020, BIPOC TV & FILM took the leap from being a 100% volunteer-run organization to a registered non-profit and hired its first Executive Director. This evolution ushers in a new era and offers opportunities to expand our current offerings, build new programming and partnerships, and strengthen our impact. Our world is experiencing a renaissance, an awakening, a reckoning. Join us in our quest to reimagine, reframe, and revolutionize our screens and create opportunity for all!
