Overview

Is a nationwide initiative run by a collaboration of young and visionary Ethiopian students in the field of veterinary medicine who come together from different universities for the same goal of changing the status of the livestock sector in Ethiopia so that professionals with commitment, potential, and work ethics are taking the lead in the process and our country economy is shifted to a sustainable level depending on the huge livestock resources the country owns. The team started this movement in 2007 E.C. and by now reaching too many students and professionals from different universities across the country and even the community via various social media. The initiative aims at working on to change the negative attitude towards the livestock sector in Ethiopia so that underestimation of the professionals in the field is completely removed from the minds of the society and the next generation up will grow knowing the fact that being a veterinarian is not just about being a doctor but also it means being a person with a good heart because being able to treat the one who doesn’t know where it hurts means speaking for the voiceless and it really is a gift to be able to do that. The initiative also promotes activities performed on different occasions with different perspectives for better cross-sectional solutions which are required to beat multidisciplinary challenges in Ethiopia. Beyond Student for Change initiative also truly advocates other major policy issues in different sectors including education, agriculture, health, professionalism, cross-sectoral collaboration, sustainable development goal agendas, economic development of the country, youth empowerment, and other major national and international agendas.
