Overview
Berkeley Humane serves the people and animals of our community by providing life-saving programs for cats and dogs, cultivating compassion, and strengthening the human-animal bond. Because the well-being of animals reflects the well-being of our community, we engage minds, hearts and hands to provide care for dogs and cats in the East Bay. Berkeley Humane found homes for more than 45,000 shelter animals since our inception in the early 1900's, and our life-saving programs have helped countless more. We also serve East Bay animals and their guardians through our PAWS (Pets are Wonderful Support) programs: behavior advice hotline, pet food pantry, end-of-life service, and pet loss support group. Like most other animal welfare agencies, Berkeley Humane is an independent non-profit not affiliated with, nor receive regular funding from, national animal welfare organizations or any government agencies. Berkeley Humane relies on the support of our community members to accomplish our life-saving mission.
