Overview

On the 17th of December 1979 His Highness Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Al-Khalifa, the late Amir of Bahrain, inaugurated the Associated Gas Project marking a major step in the Government of Bahrain’s determination to use energy effectively. The primary objective of this project was to process the large quantities of associated gas extracted from the Bahrain Oil Field into marketable products, supply residue gas for local industrial use and to provide employment and training opportunities to Bahraini nationals. The Project was incorporated as the Bahrain National Gas Company B.S.C. (BANAGAS), now known as Bapco Gas Company B.S.C. (Closed). Bapco Gas promotes oil production from the Bahrain oil field, treats process associated gas and the extraction of marketing products namely Propane, Butane and Naphtha, and supply local industries with surplus gas. Within the directions of the wise guidance of the Kingdom’s Leadership, and in line with Bahrain's Vision 2030, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, inaugurated the ceremony of the third Central Gas Plant project located in Bahrain field in 2019. Bapco Gas is certified to international standards: ISO 9001 QMS, ISO 14001 EMS, ISO 45001 OHSAS, ISO 20001 IT and ISO 31000 RM. Consistently high levels of production enabled substantial annual contributions to be made to the Kingdom’s revenue. Combined with an outstanding occupational safety record which has received international recognition made Bapco Gas one of the most successful of the many projects implemented by the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain in its determined drive for growth and prosperity for the people of Bahrain. Bapco Gas Company B.S.C. (Closed) is a subsidiary Company owned by the Government of Bahrain represented by Bapco Energies. Bapco Energies acts as the steward of the Kingdom’s strategic investment and the development arm executing the strategic plans of the kingdoms Oil and Gas Sector.
