Overview

The Bamboo Apartments is a third-generation family owned business located on Holmes Beach, Anna Maria Island, Florida. Founded in 1971 by Carmen and Avelino Torres, retired cigar workers from Tampa, Florida, the business passed to their son A. Fernando "Ferdie" Torres and his wife Gladys, and is now owned by their daughter, Alice Torres Sutton. The property consists of three duplexes with a total of five one-bedroom/one-bathroom accommodations, offered for short term stays of three nights to six months. An original Island cottage built in 1916 faces the beach and houses two of the units; three spacious one-bedroom apartments with views of the Gulf are located in the duplexes set farther back from the beach. Cottage units share a screened porch and apartments have private sun patios. The spacious Gulf-front parcel has a one-of-kind native Florida wildflower meadow with six additional patios facing the beach and private beach access. As one of the last family owned Old Florida style accommodations on the Island, the Bamboo Apartments offers personal hospitality to all guests.
