Overview
The AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company (ACIPCO) Engineering Career Development Center (ECDC) is a part of The University of Alabama Career Center, housed in the Division of Student Life. The ECDC provides a one-stop shop for engineering students seeking opportunities for career and professional development. The ECDC comprises Career Services personnel as well as Cooperative Education and Professional Practice program offices, all housed in 2004 H.M. Comer. What is Cooperative Education (Co-op)? - Cooperative Education (Co-op) is a dynamic academic program that offers students opportunities for professional experience before graduation. Co-op students participate in alternating periods of full-time employment and full-time study. - Through Co-op, students gain relevant experience, acquire career skills, and earn competitive salaries. Students maintain full-time status and earn priority course registration each semester through graduation. Co-op is open to any major. What is Professional Practice? - Professional Practice is a unique academic option for students who will work full-time for a single fall or spring semester. This option will maintain full-time academic status while at work. Students must have prior approval from their academic college to participate. Any major at UA is eligible for the Professional Practice option.
