Overview

Badger Solar Racing (formerly Badgerloop) is a student-led team that designs, builds, and races a solar powered vehicle in the American Solar Challenge (ASC), a biannual race across the US, and the Formula Sun Grand Prix (FSGP), an annual race on a closed-loop track. In July 2023, Badger Solar Racing competed in its first FSGP, completing 97 laps and being named Rookie of the Year. Prior to this race, Badger Solar Racing competed in the hyperloop competition until transitioning to solar car in 2021. The team's fresh beginnings and lack of prior experience designing a solar car, has opened vast new opportunities for members to creatively innovate, make drastic design improvements, and learn at an unprecedented rate. This is very much aligned with the team's mission to "provide an unparalleled learning opportunity that fosters innovation and hands-on experience".
