Overview
Autism Treatment for Children (ATC) is a clinic offering intensive behavioral treatment to children in Wisconsin with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). We serve the greater Milwaukee area and work with children in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties. Philosophy Autism is treatable. Children do not "outgrow" Autism, but studies show that early diagnosis and intervention lead to significantly improved outcomes. The first step in changing the course of an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is early identification. There are many scientific studies that show that early diagnosis and intervention can improve your child’s treatment outcome. Research shows that the brains of very young children are the most flexible, allowing early intensive treatment to have a dramatic impact on reducing the symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Family At ATC, we feel strongly that families should be an integral part of the treatment process. We would like to teach family members to actively participate in therapy. By working closely with both treatment staff and family members, skills learned in treatment will be most easily generalized to a child’s natural environment. This is particularly important for children with ASD because they are prone to learning specific skills in specific environments. This will also help each child to adapt successfully to home and school once therapy is completed. Early Identification is the key to treatment success! Autism is treatable.
