Overview

Autism Supports works closely with parents of autistic children and professionals working with autistic children teaching them how to support their children in their own setting. The parents services include: The initial consultation: During this consultation which is in the home setting we will gather all relevant information on your family, your environment and what supports you need. I will spend some time with your child too to get to know them better and what their interests are. From this I will compile a toolbox of supports that the parents can implement in their home. It aims to teach the parents how to implement the supports themselves. The Introductory Session: This is a tailor made training for parents who may not have a great understanding of autism and may have just gone through the diagnosis phase with their child. This can be a very overwhelming time. We compile a training which will focus on getting a better understanding of autism and what is happening with their child. It will also give you some supports that you can implement yourself at home. The Introduction of Visuals: When introducing visuals at home it can be overwhelming where to start. We will bring a starter pack which is designed for your families needs and we will teach you how to implement them. School Visit: If your child is struggling in preschool or school, we can visit the school to observe them in that environment. We will then compile a toolbox of supports that can be implemented. Professional Services: This is aimed at professionals who have started working with autistic children and want to get a general understanding of autism and different considerations that need to be made when working in the area. This will include a 30 minute zoom meeting or phone call to gain an understanding of the area you are working in and what training would benefit the group of professionals and their particular area. The training will be tailored to your individual group needs.
