Overview

The Australian Young Coastal Scientist and Engineering Conference (AusYCSEC) series is a new annual conference aimed at early-mid career researchers and professionals focused on any aspect of physical coastal science or engineering. The 3-day event offers a unique opportunity for young coastal scientists and engineers working/studying in academia and industry to present their work, learn new skills and extend their networks. AusYCSEC promotes multi- and inter-disciplinary interaction to assist in developing an integrated coastal geoscience and engineering research community. With support from senior researchers and professionals, AusYCSEC provides student and early-mid career delegates the opportunity for mentoring and professional development. This conference has been modelled after the UK YCSEC that started in 2005 and is now established in the Americas (YCSEC-A). The AusYCSEC series mission is to: • bring together students, young professional, and early career scientists and engineers concerned with physical coastal processes • build the coastal geoscience and engineering community • enhance research productivity, and • develop novel research and mentoring opportunities.
