Overview
The Atlantic Salmon Trust is a leading salmon and sea trout conservation charity on a mission to restore Atlantic salmon and sea trout populations by influencing policy change through evidence-led science. We are based in the UK but have a reach and reputation that extends around the fisheries world. Through innovative fish-tracking telemetry projects and catchment-wide restoration initiatives, our work extends from the smallest of headwater streams out into the open ocean. Since 1967 The Atlantic Salmon Trust has been leading the way in research into migratory salmonids. With over £20 million raised, our projects have successfully and radically altered the way in which salmon have been managed during the Trust’s existence. The AST's current research focus is on tracking salmonid migration to identify problems at different stages during their journey and using the information gathered o feed into it’s flagship research initiative, the Likely Suspects Framework.
