Overview

Anemon is a non-profit dedicated to producing documentaries, educational programmes and cross-media projects as a catalyst for discussion, inspiration and impact. Special focus is given to projects promoting inter-cultural and historical understanding across Europe, human rights and sustainable living. The company was founded in 2003, in Athens, Greece, bringing together the expertise of Greek filmmakers, producers and media specialists. Recent documentaries include Greek BIFF Oscar contender "When Tomatoes Met Wagner" (Greek Film Centre, ARTE, COSMOTE TV), Hellenic Film Academy winner "Dolphin Man" about the extraordinary life-stroy of free-diving legend Jacques Mayol (ARTE, WOWOW, SVT, Canal D, TVO, Knowledge Network, RTS, YES DBS, CNC, Greek Film Centre, Canadian Media Fund), IDFA nominated "Kismet", which explores the impact of Turkish Soap operas on women’s rights across the Middle East, which has been screened in over 15 channels across the world, including ARTE, Al Jazeera, SVT, YLE, RAI and RTS. Grierson nominated "The World’s First Computer", screening on ARTE, BBC 4, ΕRT, PBS and NHK, told the extraordinary story of how the ancient Greeks built a computer 2,000 years ago. Focal Award winner “A Place Without People” uncovered how the local population of Tanzania was evicted to make way for the creation of the world’s most famous nature reserves. Hellenic Film Academy and FIPA D’OR winner "A Family Affair" captures the electryfying power of Crete's most famous musical clan (ABC TV, OTE-TV, Greek Film Centre), Thessaloniki Doc Festival winner "Little Land" is set onthe island Ikaria discovering how locals live more with less (Habitat/WWF Awards / ARTE, ERT, ORF, DR) Hellenic Film Academy winner "The Game Must Go On" follows a group of kids as they fight for their right to play in one of Greece's most densly populated cities (SKAI / BBC WORLD / GFC) and Urti Grand Prix winner at the Monte Carlo TV Festival.
