Overview

Ananya Finance for Inclusive Growth Pvt. Ltd. (Ananya) is an NBFC set up by Friends of Women’s World Banking – India (FWWB) in 2009, with the objective of reaching out to a large section of microfinance institutions (MFIs) and grass root entities. Ananya is among the most responsible NBFCs in India with the urge and commitment to serve socially motivated double bottom-line enterprises. Ananya started operations by taking over FWWB’s Wholesale Microfinance Institution lending portfolio in April, 2010. The NBFC has come a long way, facing the Andhra Pradesh Microfinance crisis in its year of birth, in 2010, surviving the financially challenging 4 years that followed the crisis and started to turn around in the year 2015 when it registered full year net profits. The company has been steadily regaining its momentum since FY 2015-16 and achieved the important milestone of its portfolio crossing Rs.100 Crore during the previous FY 2017-18. The company ended the financial year in March, 2018 with a loan portfolio of Rs.152 Crore. Ananya has a robust lending portfolio today diversified across Microfinance and Agribusiness segments. In the MFI space, Ananya has, in the past, served a good majority of the now-large-sized MFIs and SFBs, including Bandhan, Janalakshmi, Ujjivan and Suryoday. Currently, Ananya’s Microfinance portfolio is well diversified across large, mid-sized and small-sized MFI partners. In Agribusiness, Ananya has had a repeat customer base of over 50%. On the borrowing side, Ananya has built a funder base well diversified across banks, financial institutions, and NBFCs. Despite being a for-profit organization, Ananya, at the core, continues to remain impact-focused. Ananya intends to lift those, who are deprived from the sufficient economic resources and environment necessary to be a part of the growth of the economy, and holistically improve their living standards. Ananya aims to do this by playing the sector-building role in the sectors aforementioned.
