Overview

The Design Lab for Alberta Health Services (AHS) is a small but diverse team of design practitioners and consultants serving those dedicated to innovating health and care in Alberta. Serving as a consultancy within AHS, we float across silos to cultivate networks of change, promote creative thinking, supplement existing structures and mindsets, and advocate fiercely for human-centred innovation to build a more accessible, sustainable, and desirable healthcare system for all Albertans. We see solutions existing in mindsets and lived experiences, not plans or processes. We consult and coach internally for Alberta Health Services, a provincial health authority providing healthcare to over 4 million Albertans. We do this through human-centred design facilitation, bringing together front-line employees, providers, patients and families of healthcare services to co-create meaningful solutions.
