Overview

AWEP is an outreach, education, and engagement initiative that targets African women entrepreneurs specifically in Nigeria. AWEP is an initiative of the United States Department of State (DOS), created to help African women entrepreneurs participate in international markets by taking advantage of the benefits of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) initiative and other trade initiatives. We endeavor to create better business environments, and empower African women entrepreneurs through providing technical and financial training, mentorship, export training, access to finance through our several business partners, and a clear path to local and export markets for their products and services. Our mission is to build a network of highly skilled business women by providing valuable information, access to markets, finance and new opportunities with a vision to position women-owned Nigerian businesses across global borders and platforms. We operate in 5 clusters as listed below: Agriculture/food processing Fashion and Apparel Hair & body Light manufacturing Services. We have a presence in the 6 geo political zones in Nigeria which is presided over by our Vice-presidents.
