Overview

The Aspen Institute (USA) in collaboration with LEAP Africa, Databank Foundation (Ghana), and Technoserve launched the Africa Leadership Initiative - West Africa (ALIWA) in 2006. ALIWA’s vision is to develop the next generation of value-based community spirited leaders in Africa. Men and women of integrity, vision, a passion for change and an entrepreneurial can-do spirit that have achieved a high degree of success in their fields of work to equip them with the tools necessary to meet the challenges of corporate and civic leadership in the 21st century. …… ALIWA Fellows are highly patriotic and committed individuals with integrity and come from business, government and civil society. To date, ALIWA has graduated 3 classes of distinguished Fellows, who motivated and inspired by the participation in the programme, have initiated and continue to lead successful initiatives in their communities. The Fellows participate in four (4) Seminars focused on ‘The Challenge of Leadership’, ‘The Aspen Seminar’, ‘Leading in an Era of Globalization’, ‘The Promise of Leadership’, and are required to take on a project of their choice that will change or transform their community, society and country. These projects vary in scope and size.
