Overview

The Adina Foundation is a humanitarian organization that was established in Bergen in 2001. Our motto: WE BUILD PEOPLE! The Adina Stiftelsen is a small, efficient and un-bureaucratic organization. We are proud that 98 percent of the funds we receive are put towards our projects, thanks to comprehensive voluntary work, and well-organized cooperation with our loyal supporters to help marginalized children in Romania and Uganda. Why we are in Romania - The Adina Stiftelsen's projects in Romania have as its goals to help poor and disadvantaged children and young people to attain a better life and an improved standard of living since 2001. The key to accomplishing this is education. The offices of the “Fundatia Adina Stiftelsen” (FAS) are located in Craiova (southwest Romania) and is the regional capital of Oltenia county, one of Romania’s two most impoverished areas. Oltenia is among the very poorest regions in the EU. Why we are in Uganda - Uganda is one of Africa’s most destitute and corrupt countries. The need for aid is enormous, especially in North-Uganda, which had been ravaged by civil war for decades. The Adina Foundation Uganda (AFU) was registered as an NGO in 2009. The main focus of AFU is the operation of the Lira Rehabilitation Center (LRC) with a local staff of 20 employees. LRC rehabilitates disabled children through training at the center, facilitating needed operations through partner clinics, and supporting activities in communities, schools, homes, and AFU established parent support groups. The number of disabled children in northern Uganda increased sharply as a result of the civil war that ended with the ceasefire in 2006. These children are grievously affected and forgotten by society. Our employees witness that disabled people are oppressed and that some are even abandoned to die. This group needs our help in the form of physical and psychological rehabilitation. Please visit www.adina.no to learn more.
