Overview

Adelaide BioMed City is a world-class multidisciplinary health and biomedical district, one of the largest districts of its kind in Australia. An investment of $3.6 billion has been made in medical, research and education infrastructure; with the new Royal Adelaide Hospital (nRAH), as the flagship of the district and cornerstone of the reformed South Australian Health system. Adelaide BioMed City has significant infrastructure and resources with the state of the art RAH, SAHMRI, and medical infrastructure of three South Australian Universities, and it is growing with the development of The Australian Bragg Centre for Proton Therapy and Research and the development of the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The precinct provides an integrated and connected environment where research, teaching, training and clinical services support the delivery of excellence in healthcare. It stimulates innovation and encourages the transition of research discoveries into clinical practice and commercially viable projects, adding value for other health industries to invest in South Australia. This close nexus between research, teaching and health care delivery, fostered by a close relationship between SA Academic Health Science and Health Translation Services, to ensure the benefits are delivered state-wide.
