Overview

Acting Impact (formerly ACTion English) is a theatre company for adults based in the centre of Madrid for people who want to improve their confidence speaking English through theatre. Since 2003, Harriet Thompson and Schuyler Hedstrom have been teaching classes which help students lose their fear of public speaking, improve their pronunciation and vocabulary, increase their ability to improvise, and learn stage techniques so they can act on the stage like professional actors. English for businesses and executives ACTion English provides professional workshops for companies, managers, politicians, and Business Schools. Course participants will improve their confidence and ability to speak English in public using a mix of theatre and improvisation exercises. Knowing how to correctly use your voice, relaxing completely before speaking and getting over your nerves are all form part of this process to become more confident speaking English in public. Methodology The method is practical, dynamic and fun with students participating throughout the course either by performing themselves, by observing their colleagues or by having time for self-reflection to correctly identify the areas where they need the most work. The teachers will use short scenes from famous plays and useful materials specifically chosen for each group of students. You do not need previous theatre experience Previous theatre experience is unnecessary and ACTion English students come from different backgrounds and countries. Attending class once a week in the evenings, students have a good time where they take a break from their daily stress and routines.
