A message from the Creator & Host, Rianka R. Dorsainvil: "I’ve been pouring myself into this concept that, directly and/or indirectly, I am being called to address the concerns surrounding diversity and inclusion, and the lack thereof, within the financial service industry. In this new project, I look to spread the awareness and share best practices of the initiatives surrounding culture, diversity, and inclusion. The awareness of the financial planning profession is spreading rapidly, we will gain ethnically diverse talent, but how we will retain these thriving professionals? This question led me to conceptualize 2050 TrailBlazers: a digital podcast aimed to directly address the lack of diversity in the financial planning profession by engaging industry experts and leaders in conversation to encourage cultural awareness, cultural perspective, and ways to make a measurable impact." Behind the name: By the year 2050, U.S. Census Bureau reports that minorities will be the majority in America (CNN, 2008). Though there have been strides in the effort to bring awareness to diverse students and professionals to encourage a career in financial services, we need to make a major impact on the retention side. Based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 6% of all advisors are black, 7.7% are Asian and 7.1% are Hispanic. The number of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals are even lower - we can make an impact, we will make an impact. Rianka is scheduled to launch the first season of “2050 TrailBlazers” podcast in March 2018. The first season will include eight full episodes.
