Examining the intersection of politics, technology, and society, Disruption Network Lab exposes the misconduct and wrongdoing of the powerful. Disruption Network Lab is an ongoing platform of events and research focused on the intersection of politics, technology and society. We are a Berlin-based nonprofit organisation in Germany (Disruption Network Lab e. V.) that has since 2014 organised participatory, interdisciplinary, international events at the intersection of human rights and technology with the objective of strengthening freedom of speech, and exposing the misconduct and wrongdoing of the powerful. We develop work that advocates for the globally marginalised. The Lab organises interdisciplinary conferences at the interface of scholarship and politics and local meetups throughout the year. Hafıza Merkezi Berlin (HMB) aims to be a hub to facilitate exchange between civil society actors from Turkey and Europe to foster joint advocacy, effective solidarity and action. HMB was founded within a global context of rising authoritarian governments, increasing nationalism and right-wing extremist movements. This increasingly alarming trend of the erosion of the rule of law and a setback in human rights at a global scale puts human rights advocates, truth seekers and defenders of accountability under a growing pressure to act. Hakikat Adalet Hafıza Merkezi (engl. Truth Justice Memory Center) is an independent human rights organization set up by a group of lawyers, journalists and human rights activists in November 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey. Hafıza Merkezi aims to uncover the truth concerning past violations of human rights, strengthen the collective memory about those violations, and support survivors in their pursuit of justice. Hafıza Merkezi implements a range of activities, including documentation in accordance with the universally accepted standards, monitoring of precedent cases, as well as dissemination of marginalized truths and narratives on these violations to a large section of society, with a view to support the recognition and rehabilitation of victims of such atrocities. Hafıza Merkezi uses a unique approach, as it gathers and accumulates knowledge and methodology from organizations dealing with similar issues in other post-conflict and post-authoritarian regions, develops them further through its everyday work and adapts the know-how into the Turkish context.
