HIGHLIGHTS 1. Project Leader, Grade 7-8 Teaching Language with Literature Pilot in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE), Singapore and the National Institute of Education (NIE) • Championed the use of canonical and non-canonical literary texts in the development of Grade 7-8 English Language scheme of work. • Championed the use of higher order thinking skills (i.e. revised Bloom’s Taxonomy) and close reading skills (i.e. reciprocal teaching) as well as content in line with the GCE O Level English Language syllabus. • Collaborated with MOE and NIE in collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data of students’ results and perceptions of their language learning. 2. Project Leader, Weaving Digital Media into Literature • Headed a group of teachers in the development of a poetry module entitled ‘Modern Interpretation of Poetry’ which introduced students to form digital interpretations of selected traditional poetry via iMovies. • Developed the framework and rubrics to monitor students’ development (process & product). 3. Coordinator, Supervised Reading Programme • Liaised with other language teachers (English and Chinese) in developing a supervised inter-faculty reading programme that covers genres like fiction, non-fiction, modern and contemporary works and current affairs. 4. Liaison Teacher, Creative Arts Programme • Mentored a group of selected Grade 9 students to build up their creative writing portfolio which were to be submitted to the Gifted Education Programme, MOE for student attachments with established local writers.
