RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for ensuring that all product development is suitable for the use it is intended for, in conjunction with design and merchandising. Engineer the product to be affordable and acceptable for submission for purchasing. • Execute development within the seasonal sourcing allocation strategies/plans. • Communicate & Manage development time & action deadlines and status updates within the business. • Communicate, manage and monitor sample time & actions with vendor partners. • Collaborate with Design/Tech Design/Merchants/Vendors on options for styles that do not meet costing targets. • Develop initial costing for styles in preparation for milestone meetings. Costing estimates, which will be approximate given that they are based on prototypes need to be developed for each idea and may include options for alternative construction/embellishment, wash, etc. These will not be final cost, but should be directionally sound. • Troubleshoot & resolve sample production issues and exceptions to expectations. • Ensuring that vendors supply samples that meet its quality and costing standards and are brand appropriate • Travel as required for development needs, milestone meeting attendance or production department meetings. • Responsible for communicating with Production • Leadership on shifts in direction/new unplanned for requirements/textile direction, etc.
