Temple Akiba Day Camp & Resident Camp
-
Culver City, CA
-
Assistant Director
-
May 2010 - Aug 2016
Temple Akiba camps provide daily care and activities for hundreds of kids each summer. My role is to plan activities from start to finish. I determine what ideas & activities are viable and execute them, from organizing staff and transit and materials needed through running the days themselves, ending with recaps and reports to improve experiences the following weeks and years. Whether it's our organizing transit and scheduling for our weekly trek to the Santa Monica pool, dressing up counselors to match the latest kids films, captaining a boat with my counselors-in-training for team building exercises, or cleaning up an unplanned bathroom break, I spend my days working at 110% simultaneously planning weeks in advance while reacting to the unexpected events of the day, and I couldn't love it more.
