Through my REU at the University of Minnesota, I worked on a project for Prof. Dauenhauer in the pursuit of developing a drop-in replacement for acrylic acid using lactic acid. I learned how to develop vapor-liquid phase diagrams and through the process gained quantitative analysis skills using gas chromatography and displaying the results through Excel. The REU also gave me the opportunity to further increase my presentation skills through poster presentations and pop talks.
