In this role as a teaching assistant and early years practitioner, I was assisting the teacher with every day classes, I supported the children in their child-initiated learning as well as delivering and teaching small intervention groups in phonics and maths. In addition to this I planned and taught drama sessions based around story telling and improvisation each week. I also supported the children during afternoon lessons like art, forest school, STEM and cooking. My role also included the general upkeep and organisation of the classroom and ensuring the room was ready and presentable for learning and play.

In this role I was responsible for an age group (This varied each week) This would include, the welfare happiness and engagement of every child in the group. I had to plan out activities each day and ensure the resources were sourced and we had enough for each child. I also had to make sure every activity was accessible and inclusive to all and that each child was engaged throughout the day.

In this new role I was responsible that every person onsite was following covid precautions including temperature checks and regular hand washing. I was also assistant to the head group leader so ensuring they were supported when running activities and games for each session.

Within this role I am the first point of contact for parents and students, I manage registers, support facilitators with. sourcing resources, ensuring rehearsal spaces are ready for use and support ambassadors with drop off and pick up. I have learnt a great deal of problem solving in this role and I try to support all children to ensure there needs are met during classes.

Whilst undertaking a group placement in New York, I worked as an assistant teaching artist; my role involved running and leading warm-ups and creative exercises as well as contributing direction and ideas towards their devised show 'Status'. In addition to this we worked 1 to 1 with the young people supporting them in their development of their pieces as well as helping on the performance days with scheduling, audiences and direction. As part of every show there is an open-house Q&A after which we facilitated and contributed too.
