I participated in the Touch Rugby Euro Championship as a physiotherapist mainly for England's W35s team both on and off the pitch, and also provided support for other athletes for England. I was assigned to the Community Neuro Rehabilitation Team that oversees the North Manchester area. Following my educator on visits, I assisted in the planning of treatment sessions, assessing new patients referred to the service, booking patients in for their next visit, and documenting the visits. As part of the team, I took part in multidisciplinary team meetings, and worked closely with other healthcare professionals such as speech & language therapists, occupational therapists and the specialist Parkinsons' disease nurse. Pointe shoe fitting is a very niche skill that requires understanding of ballet, and how a dancer’s anatomy and technique play an important role in the selection of the right pointe shoe for the dancer to be able to dance comfortably and safely en pointe. As a pointe shoe fitter, I am responsible for assessing the dancer’s anatomy, technique and strength to guide my decision on the type of pointe shoe I recommend for the dancer. Parents and dance teachers are also often involved in this process to help their understanding in the rationale behind the selection of pointe shoe model. Show less
