Head of Cultivation and Production Manager - AQPIC
-
Sep 2022 - Present
Growing up in a remote area of the Yukon I have always been very connected to nature, and learned at an early age that mushrooms reset the soil and the environment around them, returning it to a more balanced state. Later in life I learned that they can help do this for one’s mind as well, and have been used as medicine throughout history. As Head of Cultivation for the Majik Minds psilocybin mushroom grow division I am very excited about the opportunity to cultivate this traditional medicine to be used in a clinical environment - providing safe, accessable psilocybin therapy that many people will benefit from. Zebulon Austin’s body of work summarizes a keen exploration of light and it’s affect on both subject and viewer. For the technically minded, each piece holds nothing less than a complex process of approaches. Combining carving, sculpting, and painting methods onto panel, Zebulon rejects the precision of directorial brushes in favour of less obvious tools such as gravity, wind, dye applicators, spatulas, knives, and perhaps most notably – the flow and evaporation of water. Layering colour and acrylic gel, Zebulon adds and extracts, yields and guides, to create shadow, impression, and form that live in relationship with one another and bring both subject and viewer together through the variables of light and movement.
