Client Interviewing Competition - Runner Up
-
Mar 2021 - May 2021
I took part in a client interviewing competition run by De Montfort University. Round 1: I was required to interview a client about a contractual dispute with a partner. Having asked a variety of questions to get all the relevant information from the client, I was able to advise my client on her legal and non-legal options in resolving the dispute. Final: My partner and I interviewed a client who was owed holiday pay. After asking multiple detailed questions in order to obtain enough information, I advised the client on the best possible route to making a claim against his former employer for owed holiday pay and a failure to provide a written statement. This experience has provided me with many transferrable skills. These skills include: -Communication; -Legal analysis; -Problem-solving; -Teamwork; -Empathy. Show less

As part of this internship experience I completed four key tasks to assist a client. Core deliverables: -Researched key parts of an acquisition transaction and summarised this for the client; -Prepared an outline of the key factors that must be examined during the due diligence process, why these factors were relevant and any questions the buyer may wish to ask; -Produced a table of amendments for a non-disclosure agreement; -Outlined the costs and benefits of two models of dispute resolution and advised on the most advantageous option. Class Assistant
-
Sep 2016 - Jul 2017
My role as a class assistant involved working with and assisting individuals and small groups of students with their understanding of classwork. It was essential that I built up a strong rapport with students so that I could tailor my support to their individual needs. In order to effectively do this, I would sit and listen to students so that I could properly understand their educational needs. I worked alongside a teacher to help prepare for lessons. This has improved my time management and leadership ability. This experience has also given me the confidence to step into a work environment with industry professionals. Show less
